Tire Swings and Ice Cream

Hello All!
I sorry I haven't been keeping up with my blog very well this week, but James and I are in the process of moving back to the parents house for a couple months before we move to Texas. So needless to say it has been kind of a mad house around here lately, and we haven't had any time to do outfit shoots... I know this is way too early in my blog for me to be taking a mini blogging hiatus, but I think I'm going to have to if I value my sanity (Which I certainly do)  :)
So for the next couple of weeks I don't think that I will be able to do any new posts, but if I have the extra time then I will try and squeeze one in whenever I can!

So in liu of the coming Independance Day festivities, here are a few photos that James took, oh about three 4th of July's ago... Oldies but goodies, for sure!

Mmm I sure do love a classic chocolate and vanilla twist ice cream cone...

I'm totally rocking James Aviator Sunnies right here... and I can't believe how long my hair was! (Ok I know it's not long compared to lots of people out there, but for me I can barely grow my hair out to my shoulders. It's sad I know...)

Until next time...

Elementary my dear Watson...

My weekend away was wonderful! I so very very much enjoyed my time on the beach...Relaxing, blissful and I didn't even get sun burnt! Quite the accomplishment.

Last week James and I ventured across the street to the local Elementary School, and snapped some fun little shots. Like I said, I'm always looking for different locations. Hmm I wonder where we will go next? :)

I love the little number 8 that is lurking in the side of the photo. My favorite of all numbers!
I always was the adventurous type... (The 5 foot drop just about claimed my life...)

Now off to watch Beetlejuice with the hubs... I love how cute Alec baldwin was back in the day, and how melodramatic Lydia is... Plus her outfits! I especially love the birdcage veils, and her huge black sun hat... Maybe I'll have to do a Lydia inspired outfit post tomorrow, oooo the endless options!

The waves roll in and the waves roll out.

So I wont be piutting up any new posts this weekend because I'll be at the beach! My inlaws have a cabin over on the west side of the state by Muskegon, so I will be lounginig on the beach for the next two days, ahh sweet blissful relaxation... Well sorry for such a short and quite borinig post, but I am off! Maybe I will be able to snap a few photos of my beach fun while I am away... But I might just be too busy enjoying the sun, sand, and water... We shall see :) Enjoy your weekend everyone!!

Busy bees make the most honey.

Wednesday I was definitely a busy little bee, I ran what felt like a million errands all over Lansing and I also interviewed for a job at Urban Outiftters, along with like 200 other people, so we"ll see how that goes... This is what I wore to the interview and on all my little excursions, it was nice and comfy and quite breezy too...(I did change out my shoes though, I wore my tan sandals instead because I knew I would be running all over)

Behind me is this wonderful local flower shop (well actually their greenhouse), and it worked out just lovely as an interesting backdrop for the photos...I like to change up our photo locations, and try not to do the same one more than twice, so you all may see me in some weird locations, but hey if it makes for a fun photo I'm there!

Aww and there's Roy the Moped looking all cute in the background...And also there's the gravestone company in the background as well... Hmm nice touch!
Here's a question for all you other style bloggers out there, where's your favorite place to take outfit photos?

In fields of waving grass...

After dinner the other night James and I found this great little field with a big dried up mud puddle, and lots and lots of beautiful waving grass, that was just begging for me to come frolick and prance about in....

This one is actually quite a good photo of my tattoo... If anyone has ever wondered what in the world it was, it's a Gil Elvgren pin up that my tattoo artist and I modified to be a 1940's/1950's pastry chef... It's a full half sleeve, and as you can kinda see there is a kitchen behind the pin up in full technicolor. Also on the under side of my arm is a cupcake with a spatula and whisk crossed underneath it like a skull and crossbones, lots of sprinkles, and a pink banner that says "Live. Love. Bake." So now you all know what in the world is going on with my arm :) Now onto more frolicking in the field photos...

I am such a complete dork, but at least I am a complete dork that can laugh at myself :) It truely is the only way to live...

 Photos: Thanks Jam!
I love this darling little gingham dress, it just fits so perfectly with this landscape. I'm pretty sure it was made just for frolicking and romping around in...

There's a train a comin, ain't got no track...

First of all let me start by saying I am so sorry for not posting yesterday, but our computer was giving us fits... For some reason it wasn't letting James save pictures, so it took him 3 tries to finally get them saved, and by then I was too pooped to write a good blog...

Anywho, on a fun note James and I finally went to this photo location that we have been wanting to go to since we moved to Lansing! It's this way awesome set of train tracks that we drive over everyday, and I could never figure out how to get down there... But finally this week I found that if we took this weird little loop off the street it would take us to a dead end subdivision, and the end of the street runs right into the train tracks!

My attempt at an arabesque... haha

So there is this gigantic cement structure that goes over the train tracks, which is what attracted me to this location in the first place, but then we found this other creepy little cement hut thingy next to it, so naturally I had to check it out...

That's my "this is way creepy, should I go in?" face...

I was getting noshed on so bad by mosquitoes so we shot a couple photos, then I was outta there...

And I'm pretty sure I ran through a ton of poison ivy... Good thing I'm not allergic. :)

Sorry for the uber photo heavy post, but James and I just had so much fun shooting and got so many great ones that I just had to share... After we left the train tracks we went to Champs to have some dinner and then go to see The A-Team afterwards, but after dinner we saw this great little field and just had to go shoot some photos in it... We got some lovely photos there too, so I'm going to do another post tonight of those ones.... Here's a little preview....

Stuck in the middle with you...

This weekend was nice and relaxing, but also filled with tons of fun things... After the pow-wow on Saturday I went to my dad's house in Owosso to have a little cookout with him and the family for Father's Day. We ate good food, and had even better conversations... Then Sunday my friend Kim and I went to a local place called the East Lansing Aquatic Center, and spent the day lounging in the sun by the pool... It was quite blissful, and since it was the weekend there were tons of people there, so it made for excellent people watching...( People watching is my all time favorite hobby, I wish I could get paid to just watch people and observe them from afar... Now as im typing it out it sounds kinda creepy, but really no creepy initentions here folks...) After lounging my the pool all day, James got out of work and we met up with my mom and everyone (Everyone being: My stepfather-Big Nell, my older sister, my younger sister, and my baby brother), and we went to Harpers to have 1/2 off pizza and beer. This outfit was perfect for my day of relaxation and fun,it's  nice and cool and a little bit sassy...

My darling little red shoes, oh how I love thee. I love wearing them with a monocromatic outfit, and then topping it off with a pop of red lipstick.

Today I also realized how close we are getting to moving day! Starting after the Fourth of July, we'll be moving all of our stuff 7 houses away to my mom and Big Nell's place, where we will be living for the next 3 months before moving to Texas. I also realized that we will be moving twice in 3 months... That really kind of stinks. But oh well, at least we'll get to see the family a ton before moving across the country! That is a definite bonus.

Garden of Eden.

On Saturday my family and I went to a little event in Lansing called Touch a Truck, where children can go and see all sorts of city vehicles, like an ambulance, a helicopter, a dump truck, a firetruck etc... My little 3 year old brother, we call him Baby Nell, love love LOVED it! He even got to go inside of a Special Ops tank... Pretty darn cool... Here he is waving at me in the reflection of the firetruck wheel...

Afterward we went to a Native American Pow-Wow, and we saw so many beautiful things... There were tons of people from all different tribes dressed in their regalia, and they would go to the middle of the circle and do traditional dances together. One of my favorites is the Crow Hop, and one where a few young girls go to the circle and do these beautiful dances with mini hula hoops... They make all sorts of designs with them, eagles, and butterflies etc... So beautiful. (I will post some photos later, but I have to make all the files a little smaller lol) Also there are lots of really great vendors selling all sorts of goods, furs, beads, jewelry, etc... I had to stop myself from buying up everything I saw.

So it was quite unbelievably hot while we were out and about, of course I got a gnarley sunburn. Not fun... But at least I stayed pretty cool in my nice and breezy floral dress...
